Welcome to Colonsay Community Council!

Colonsay in the Southern Hebrides is a Scottish civil community within the unitary authority of Argyll and Bute which is represented by Colonsay Community Council

Colonsay is about eight miles long, ten if you count the tidal island of Oransay and about two miles wide. It is known world wide for its beautiful beaches, scenery, animal and and birdlife. It has been inhabited for millenia as evidenced by shell middens left by its earliest settlers, and remain of early settlements can be found all over the island. Evidence of Viking occupation has been found near the sea. There are two main settlements:Scalasaig, where the shop, village hall, and doctors surgery can be found together with a number of other businesses. There is one small hotel with a restaurant and bar, and a cafe the Pantry which is something of a community hub
